Physical Therapist Assistant
Joshua Waitekus worked as a certified massage therapist for ten years before completing his education and license as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Tidewater Community College. Since working at Wardell Orthopaedics after graduating, he has expanded his manual therapy skills by attending and practicing myofascial release, which is a hands-on technique taught by John Barnes and dedicated to releasing trauma and pain trapped in the body through gentle stretching and holds at the body’s natural barrier, allowing the patient to “let go” of the hidden “tightness, guarding, and trauma that can get trapped in the tissues.” In his spare time, he enjoys playing and listening to music as a guitar player and singer in a band, long walks on the beach, and riding his Onewheel™, an electric skateboard.
